9 Months Old

So... the eighth month came and went in a flash for some reason. What was the reason, you may ask? RSV. Luckily, Alan was able to kick it's tail with the help of antibiotics and cough medicine. He had a very mild case that did not cause any difficulty breathing, thankfully. We have been so truly blessed by our sweet healthy boy!

The ninth month has been full of excitement!
Alan has started to crawl and pull up on his knees. He even stood for about a minute tonight two times. I know, that probably sounds like no big deal, but IT IS! Especially for my chunk of a son who has to be highly motivated to leave his current state of contentment!

He has also started drinking cows milk. This saddens me, but I know we are doing what is best for him. He checked in at 20lbs 12 ounces (60%) and 30 inches (95%) at his nine month check-up. The nurse took blood and his iron was right on target, so we got the go ahead to start whole milk.

We are mixing it with my milk for his bottles during the day. I am still nursing for his first feeding in the morning and the last one before bed. In the next month or so, we will start reducing those feedings as well.

He is still loving meal time. He loves, loves, loves his food! We have started giving him fruit to eat with his fingers. So far, we have tried bananas and strawberries. He loved them both. Soon, we will begin introducing vegetables to him that way as well.
