Since his first birthday, Alan has started pulling up and motoring around on the furniture. He is doing great taking steps with Mommy and Daddy's help. In the past few days, he has begun putting his toys in his mouth (to free his hands, maybe?) to help with crawling from place to place and/or standing up.
He has also begun to give kisses to mommy and daddy. This list was expanded yesterday when he gave kisses to Grammy, too! It makes my heart happy to see him creating such bonds with family!
I think we have new teeth coming in on the bottom. He woke up really miserable after his afternoon nap today. He wasn't happy until Bruce and I gave him a teething ring from the freezer. He bit down with force enough to cause him to shake... Poor little thing.
We have settled into a great routine for the summer!
Alan gets up between 6:30 - 7:15 and we visit with daddy before he leaves for work.
He drinks 4-5 ounces of milk and has breakfast around 8. We play with toys or read books for a little while, and Alan goes down for his morning nap around 8:30 or 9:00 and is always awake by about 10:30.
Last week, we were able to go meet Bruce for lunch quite often after Alan woke up from his nap. This is quite a treat because during the school year, it NEVER happens. Our lunch dates consist of Bruce dropping off Lenny's while I am in the cafeteria with my class.
We will usually run errands after lunch if time allows. He is usually ready for his afternoon nap by 1:30, but I try to push him to nap at 2pm. He is doing great with his naps, now! He will usually sleep until 3:30 or 4 and be recharged and ready to play when Daddy gets home from work.
Because of this summer schedule, our evenings are a bit different than anything we have ever experienced in the Ulrich household.
We can now eat dinner closer to 6 usually. Because of this, Bruce and I have tried to start eating at the same time when possible. I am loving this new routine. We are able to go straight to bath (self-feeding is a nasty business) and play for a while before bed.
8:00 is our magic time for bed. Even if Alan is tired and yawning at 7:15, he will talk and play in his bed until 8 it seems.
We had a couple of firsts this week:
Jackson Zoo and Geyser Falls
We had such a great time! He was a trooper for Geyser Falls. He took a 30 minute nap on the way and then was awake all day. I am NOT kidding. There was one point around 1:30 that I thought he was going to pass out, but he pushed through. He loved the sand and the water! I can't wait until we can go to the beach and get some real sand time in a few weeks!
Something that made my heart happy today:
I saw this on the refrigerator when I was feeding Alan this morning.
I have a sweet, sweet husband!
