January 2011 - We Have Two Teeth!

January 2011
Two Teeth

The first tooth came up with his neighbor quickly following him!
We think there are more trying to break through too. With how fast these first two came, I hope these others come on through and don't linger too long.

Even with the discomfort of emerging teeth, Alan still loves to play and laugh. Daddy has the magic touch with this. Bruce went back to work yesterday, and Alan was beside himself all day. I think he missed his daddy. We have both gotten very spoiled to him being around a lot this holiday!

As you can see in the photo above, he is a growing boy! The 9 month shirt I finally put on him barely fits him. It just looked so big hanging in the closet. Every time it came time to get dressed, I would reach up to get it off the hanger and think to myself, "This is still too big for him." Wrong... He has his daddy's long arms. The 9 month pants fit him perfectly after I use the adjusters to cinch up the waist a little. I guess I will need to move on to 12 month shirts. Geez... He is growing way too fast.

We are scooting along on the floor! I realized that I may have been hindering his mobility by always putting him on a soft blanket and not directly onto the floor. Ok... I was being lazy and not wanting to sweep.  As soon as I put him on the (freshly swept and swiffered) kitchen floor, he reached those arms out and pulled all 20 lbs up as much as he could. Granted, he gets tired and can't move very far. But he is trying so hard!

Alan is sitting up great! I still wrap that boppy around his back. I am just so scared he will pop backwards all of the sudden when I am not looking. He loves playing with the shapes his Grandma gave him for Christmas! These keep him entertained for long periods of time. Sometimes he gets distracted by the bright red bucket they came in, but that is fine! Maybe eventually he will realize there are openings on top that those shapes fit into. We will see. There is ABSOLUTELY no rush! I am just enjoying his sweet little self.

We are still doing 100% breast milk every three hours. We did just milk for about a week while he was getting over a nasty cough and runny nose. As soon as he started feeling better, we started solids again. We are still eating Gerber 2nd Foods. In addition to nursing throughout the day, he eats oatmeal and/or multi-grain cereal twice a day. He also loves his vegetables and fruit at night right before bath.

Alan still sleeps very well at night. When he is sleepy, nothing will make him happy except putting him in his bed. He instantly puts one arm down by his side and the other arm up by his face so that thumb is ready for the sucking.

He is such a sweet boy. Bruce and I are blessed beyond measure to have a boy with such energy and joy! I can't imagine how his personality will continue to flourish as he grows.

  1. It really seems that he's growing too fast when you see all of the pictures together like this with what he is doing as well. Love that he's really showing his personality, in spite of his teeth.
